After months of planning and development, the new Yorkshire Markets Online Shop is now live.
Developed by Purple Creative Services, of Richmond, and the Business Association (Wensleydale) Limited, the website is aimed at giving businesses in our region an online shop presence of their own. The funding is being made available through the Rural Development Programme for England, which is jointly funded by Defra and the European Union. http://ec.europa.eu/agriculture/rurdev/index_en.htm
The principle of the market is simple; imagine your own local Market where independent sellers rent a stall and set out their produce for you to purchase.
The cost of managing a stall is a lot less than opening your own high street shop so for some types of businesses - this is ideal.
It doesn't stop at 'retail' type sales though. Yorkshire Markets can also cater for online accommodation reservations and bookings, digital download type sales and offer extensive delivery options.
For the potential shoppers, you may be someone who visited for a holiday stay in the area and found some local cheese or craft products. Through Yorkshire Markets you could continue to shop for those special items when you get back home.
We think that Yorkshire Markets will help to widen the shopping audience for our area - if you are a small business who doesn't yet have an online shop then Yorkshire Markets is the place for you...
